About me

About Me

I’m RJ Castro — a Mexican-American Chicano actor, chef, entrepreneur and creative storyteller based in California. My journey into acting isn’t the traditional one, but every step prepared me for the work I do on screen today.

Before acting, I spent more than two decades building a life in Soccer, food, hospitality, community events, and leadership. I ran restaurants, launched food businesses, coordinated concerts, managed major community festivals, and hosted television segments. I’ve worked as a chef, a creative producer, a recruiter, a community organizer, and even a sports host for Comcast’s “Local Soccer Scene," after retiring from professional soccer as a player and a coach.

Those real-world experiences shaped the authenticity I bring to my performances. I come from the world of real conversations, real pressure, and real people — and that translates into grounded, emotionally honest characters.

Acting became the next chapter in my creative evolution. I began training, taking roles in independent films, building my presence on camera, and stepping into dramatic parts that pushed me deeper into storytelling. Whether I’m playing intensity, vulnerability, or comedy, I work to bring truth to every scene.

Today, I’m developing film and digital projects, including Heard, Behind, Corner, while continuing to build my acting career through diverse roles in film, TV, and digital media.

At my core, I’m a storyteller — bringing my lived experience, culture, and perspective to every role. I’m here to create stories that feel real, connect with people, and leave a lasting impression on screen.
